Charity Work
Introduction to My Path in Helping Others
My journey into helping others actually started during my high school years, through a program known then as Industrial Cooperative Training (ICT). This unique blend of academic and practical experience allowed me to spend mornings in school and afternoons working. In my first year, I served as a veterinary technician, but my second year marked a pivotal shift towards human care, particularly aiding the elderly. This inclination was likely inspired by the years my great-grandmother lived with us. My hospital rounds, especially those in the Emergency Room, revealed a profound passion for the fast-paced environment, where my volunteer work also began.
Overcoming Personal Challenges
An on-the-job spinal injury in 1983 halted my pursuit in a profession where I thrived—saving lives as a Paramedic at the East Texas Medical Center, a role perfectly suited to my nocturnal nature. The injury caused me to search deep within for passions that I could make a career out of. The medical profession was no longer an option for me.
A Turning Point: Faith and Family
An unexpected moment of faith emerged during my father's critical medical procedure. His plea for life and subsequent dedication to God transformed our family dynamics, drawing us closer to faith and community. My parents quickly became pillars in their little Southern Baptist log cabin church. The first time I went with them I was deeply touched by the love I felt by everyone there.
Deepening Spiritual Commitment
From a young age, I embraced Christianity, but it wasn't until I entered a quaint country log church that I truly felt an overwhelming sense of divine love and belonging. This experience spurred my deep commitment to spiritual growth and service. From that moment on I knew my purpose in life was in spiritual service. I moved to Nacogdoches in 1991 and started attending church every time the doors were open. My spiritual growth and desire to serve God led me to clean the church, serve in youth ministry, become a Sunday School teacher, VBS teacher, Women's Missionary Union Leader, and church secretary. My passion for the Word of God was strong. I consumed knowledge about the Bible, the people in it and the stories they told, and the principles to live by. People began coming to me for direction, prayer, and counsel.
Founding of the Healing Room
In 2002, I established a Healing Room in Nacogdoches at the First Assembly of God church where we attended. This initiative, inspired by John G. Lake and later revitalized by Cal Pierce, focused on faith-based healing. We witness numerous miracles. Hearts healed from emotional trauma. Blind eyes were opened. Deaf ears heard. The lame walked. Backs were restored. Just as Jesus said, "Lay hands on the sick and they will recover." We were amazed at what we saw and heard. We learned quickly that God does not lie.
Expansion and Mission of the East Texas Healing Center
Our dedication to both physical and inner healing propelled us from a room in the church to our own facility, intriguingly situated at the crossroads of Church and Hospital Streets. This serendipity underscored our mission at the East Texas Healing Center—a hospital for the soul.

Ongoing Efforts and Community Service
Today, the Healing Center continues to serve both local and online communities through prayer, counseling, life coaching, and restorative therapy. We also extend our support to women in need through the Healing House, offering programs for their restoration. Our goal is to restore one's self esteem (R.O.S.E. program). If one life is touched and transformed, the entire family will be transformed too.
