Author Interview
A Workbook for Writers Who Want to Be an Author or Authorpreneur
What is your book about?
Simply put, A Workbook for Writers Who Want to Be Authors or Authorpreneurs is about helping writers become authors. The workbook covers more than 40 topics and contains more than 400 resources to help make your dream of becoming an author a reality.
What inspired you to write this particular book?
I was inspired to write this book after finishing my fourth book. I kept getting questions from friends and from social media about writing a book, the editing process, whether to go traditional or self-publish, how to market their book, and about how to create their author platform. Every writer who wants to become an author must also learn that they are in business to sell themselves and their book. I help them do that in the workbook. Is the workbook for everyone? No. Only for those serious about writing, publishing, and making money with their self-published book. The marketing tips in this workbook also work for traditionally published authors.
Is there a message in your writing you want readers to grasp?
The quote comes to mind, "If I can do it so can you." It is true. The message I want readers to grasp is that writing is work, but it is worth it. No matter how much effort it takes to make your dream of becoming an author just do it. Don't procrastinate. You have a voice. You have a unique story to tell. People want to hear what you have to say. Does it matter that there are already books out there like yours? No. Your voice, your style, and your story are all unique to you. Make it happen. You will never regret it!
Have you always wanted to be a writer?
No. I did not even like to read. I was a little dyslexic, so it made it challenging for me. It was not until I was in my 20s that I ever picked up a book and actually finished reading a book. I was hooked from that moment on. I was in my mid 30s when I knew I would write a book or books. Almost 20 years passed before I actually wrote my first book, A Woman of Acts, in 1994. I have been writing ever since. Now I have seven self-published books on Amazon.com/author/cindyhyde
Have you written any other books?
I am the author of 15 books, some of which are available on Amazon, Barnes and Noble, and my website: www.CindyLHyde.com. One of them is Creating Five Income Streams from Your Printed Book, a practical guide for authors who want to sell their books in different formats. It comes in both eBook and print versions. Another book is Making Peace with Your Past: One Choice at a Time, a book for those who seek inner healing from their past trauma. I also wrote Following Ancient Paths: A Chronological Study of 52 Ancient Biblical Stories, a resource for studying the Bible in its historical context.
The most difficult book I have ever written is External Scars from Internal Wounds. I share the story of how my son cut his throat intentionally and survived. He was among the millions who struggle with self-harm and suicidal ideology. I wrote this book as suicide and self-harm resource and tool for suicide prevention. As I wrote, “A wounded soul demands pain, even if it is your own.”
All of my books are the result of my passion and love for writing.
